Margot de Groot is the founder of de Groots wills and estate lawyers, and oversees offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Margot has more than 30 years experience practising in the areas of estate planning, deceased estate and trust administration and estate litigation.
Margot completed a Business Management Program at the Harvard Business School in the United States of America during 2004 – 2006, was a finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in 2004 and is a Notary Public.
Margot founded the Queensland branch of the International Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and was a founding member of the Queensland Law Society Succession Law Committee. Margot has served as Chairman of Law Australasia, a National Association of law firms and held directorships with the Queensland Institute of Medical Research Trust, the Queensland Law Foundation and Energex Retail Pty Ltd. She is the past Chair of St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School Foundation.
Margot has been recognised by legal benchmarking website, Doyle’s Guide as one of Queensland’s leading lawyers in the area of wills and estates for two consecutive years in 2018 and 2019.
On 7 June 2020 Margot was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia Award for significant service to the law, to professional legal bodies, and to women in business.
